It could be a 1M of them he have a cult following hope to get a huge spike in users for linux in next 2 months.
Somthing is that the level he have done it. if he have done it by him self i have respect our him. i could not even able to do it.
Meh not really impressed by this guy. Seems like hes trying to get brownie points from linux community
You must be new to the internet.
Silly comments will get silly responses.
This is like the second time we get comments like that.
We even got someone on another forum that said and I quote:
Great, we can expect uneducated right wingers showing up in Linux forums now.
luckily as staff I just added a note
(btw they said âa bunch ofâ initially which is a huge exaggeration and I removed it.)
For me it proves that it is getting attention lmao.
Considering he has 110 million subscribers, even having 1% of those interested in trying linux, this would be a huge increase in the popularity.
People will always give strong opinions on a public profile such as his including biases that are unfounded. I do expect it to complicate some of the forums hopefully with only a lot of entry level questions but I fear there will be some drama attached.
Whatâs the logic behind taking a controversial comment from another forum and reposting it here as if it doesnât have the potential to lead to similar infightingâŚ
Eh Mr duck, that video has nothing to do with privcy. It just nice to see someone with that following give linux some love.
I donât think that the world biggest Linux ad was on anyoneâs bingo card this year.
Ok Mr null and I disagree with your assessment of the video.
But apparently this forum doesnât like when people disagree so they removed my comment.
Great little privacy discussion haven weâve got here where any dissenting opinion gets deleted!
Love it or leave it then.. all youâve done since joining the forum is make comments that rile people up for no apparent reason and complain about peopleâs comments or the info linked. Your comments donât explain why you have such opinions nor does it take into account for reasonable, rationality, and the context of the discussion.
How old are you anyway? If youâre being a dick, your comment will be taken down. Thereâs an art to how to disagree and the sooner you abide by then, fewer of your comments will be taken down.
Finally, some very well deserved love to the penguin!
I think the home box office show ruined the reference of Linux being called penguin, donât you think? I guess I mean the character than the show itself.
But mine is an off topic comment - hope itâs not taken down still but I wonât be mad if it is.
I would like to hear what you disagree with from what I seen he only talk about the freedom of FOSS software.
And yeah sadly the forum has become flag happy lately. I was hopeing for back and forward chat about linux.
Mintâs #1 spot on distrowatch applies to the 3mo, 6mo, and 12mo rolling average charts. Not attributable to this ~5 day old video.
For the shorter timeframes that this video might impact (either the 7 day or 30 day charts) Mint falls to the #2 spot.
With that said, I appreciate the video because it is speaking to a different and broader audience than Linux channels are usually speaking to, and with a more accessible/non-technical tone, that focuses on the broad brush strokes of why Linux is cool, fun, and interesting, which is not usually the way Linux is promoted by technical folks, or by us in the privacy space. And that has the possibility of reaching, or engaging a broader (and probably much younger) audience that would be turned off or intimidated by too much focus on either the technical or philosophical reasons one might use Linux.
Great review of the video, with the commentator also adding personal experiences in a funny way.
