Microsoft is about to launch Recall for real this time

MSFT’s apathy toward privacy knows no bounds. I for one am livid. Anyone else?

I’ll just leave it at that:

To use Recall, you will need to opt-in to saving snapshots, which are images of your activity, and enroll in Windows Hello to confirm your presence so only you can access your snapshots. You are always in control of what snapshots are saved and can pause saving snapshots at any time.

What exactly is the issue? Apart from just bashing Microsoft and Windows.

In my opinion, the problem with windows is that unpopular “features” like this start off as choices, which then step by step become harder to subvert, until it becomes mandatory.

Only time will tell how this will end. It might become mandatory, but it might not, so we can only speculate, which isn’t really productive in my opinion.

I really dont think this is an opinion but hey Microsoft could prove us wrong for once but idk on that.

It is a massive security threat. It litterly records everything so you can use it to exfiltrate data of systems you no longer have access to. This imho is a significant risk on many different areas.

  • Fully opt-in.
  • Encrypted.
  • Authenticated with Windows Hello.
  • Can exclude certain apps and websites.
  • It actively tries to filter out sensitive information like passwords and credit card details.

Yes exactly

I’m sorry, but your comment reads like a defense of Recall. Are you actually defending it?

If it was up to me, it wouldn’t exist, and I don’t see the appeal of it. But just mindlessly bashing Microsoft and Windows because of this is pretty sad. So am I defending it? Yes and no, will leave it to you to decide.

All I said was it reads like a defense and asked a simple question.

People are so touchy here.
