It is your first time here but please avoid making such low effort topics.
Search the forum first. Also remember, PrivacyGuides focuses on security and privacy, rather than just “good budget”
In my country, there is a saying that goes: “the cheap ends up being expensive, and what is good costs money.”
I believe it applies in this particular case.
It offers e2ee , so why not one can choose this one ?
Prove it.
This is always a great thing to do.
Issues like this along with no third party audits make it hard to recommend.
Related topics regarding MEGA:
Personally haven’t looked at them in years. Doubt they meet our requirements.
They don’t exactly have the best reputation MEGA fixes critical flaws that allowed the decryption of user data
PG works based on recommendations from the community, so someone has to bring it forward to be evaluated and then a discussion starts on all the requirements
why it’s not in privacyguides list?
In addition to what @Fibonacci succinctly noted above, I encourage you to at least look at the appropriate criteria before asking a question like this.
then that’s called source available not open source for one thing.
Second at that point I would more recommend Filen over Mega considering they have open source clients (a bit of the AWS and the WebDAV) with proper FOSS License and they do document their encryption over at:

Zero knowledge end-to-end encrypted cloud storage, redefined. - Filen Cloud Dienste
What do you mean?
If it’s for source available vs open source, the party is irrelevant here.
Pleese keep the thread on topic, thanks. The discussion on license models is old and can be found here:
This is beyond the topic of this thead.
I encourage you to at least look at the appropriate criteria before asking a question like this.
Minimum Requirements
Must enforce end-to-end encryption. Must offer a free plan or trial period for testing. Must support TOTP or FIDO2 multi-factor authentication, or passkey logins. Must offer a web interface which supports basic file management functionality. Must allow for easy exports of all files/documents.
These are all met by MEGA. Half of the best-case criteria too. So I think either we should be able to recommend MEGA (or Filen) on that basis or the criteria need to be changed.

Meeting the min requirements has never meant a product or tool will be recommended. Part of the process is passing community scrutiny. Just because a product is not recommended but meets those requirements is not a strong reason to change the criteria.
I’m not necessarily saying MEGA needs to be recommended, but I do think the criteria should be amended to give an objective reason why MEGA or Filen (or others) are not included. It shouldn’t just be based on “vibes” in the community.
edit: and also not on a past security issue that’s been fixed
It’s not vibes. People have documented the issues with Mega on this site and elsewhere.

Make a thread suggesting the criteria change and get it approved then. That is a separate conversation.

It isn’t but, tools needing to pass community scrutiny is not a new thing. Neither is having users be salty when a tool they want recommended does not work out or takes longer then they want.
Mega is only for NSFW stuff
Im glad you use it that way but its certainly not the case.
