You think it is still worth it to put in a Git issue for removing Mailbox? The fix is nice, but Your examples provided above regarding their security are substantial. I know your goal is not to discredit mailbox (neither is mine), but it still may be worth bringing it up as an issue.
I apologize for not putting this in earlier. Time got away from me and this fell further down on the “TODO” list.
Yes definitely. Mailbox always advertised to be SECURE. Now that trust is broken and when you can not trust them with security anymore then there is no reason to consider them (since they lack so many features and are nowadays far behind other providers). I browse their userforum from time to time and I always get the feeling that they don‘t have their stuff together behind the walls. Thats really a pitty because they looked so promising at the beginning (company focused on privacy and security, CEO with strong background in mail hosting, etc.)
That said, they are the opposite of a secure email service. Once my credit runs out, I’m done. They also recycle email addresses, and their solution is to use your own domain, which is not a solution at all. And their spam filtering is the worst I’ve seen. I wouldn’t trust it for job hunting or anything important you’re waiting on.
