Hello there! I am Vadim (Vah-deem), a seasoned Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) and a retired U.S. Navy Chief with comprehensive experience in cybersecurity, information assurance, and systems administration.
My career has been dedicated to securing sensitive systems and data, holding critical roles such as Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) and various leadership positions at the White House Communications Agency (WHCA). In these capacities, I managed risk management frameworks (RMF), developed and secured multiple networks, and supported the Executive Office of the President. I currently work as an IT consultant at my partners firm in the Netherlands and provide expert level insight to customers looking to develop their IT infrastructure, knowledge management, or deliver training to existing IT professionals.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Management
CompTIA CASP+, Security+, Cloud+, Network+, A+, Certified Scrum Master, and ITILv4.
Extensive, hands-on experience with the specific technologies and frameworks that power modern, secure infrastructures, including:
- Privacy & Security Tools: Proficient with Enterprise Bitwarden and KeePass for password management, alongside enterprise vulnerability scanners and Security Information & Event Management (SIEM) tools like Nessus, Splunk, Elastic, SolarWinds, and ACAS.
- Open-Source & Enterprise OS: Deep knowledge of RHEL 8/9, Ubuntu Server, and Microsoft Server environments.
- Databases: Experience with open-source PostgreSQL and Enterprise DB products, as well as Microsoft SQL.
- Programming: Experience with JavaScript, C, C#, and Rust.
- Identity Management: Solid skills related to Microsoft Identity Management (MIM), Privileged Access Management (PAM), F5, and CyberArk.
- Policy & Frameworks: Expertise in implementing and managing systems under ICD-503, RMF, and STIG guidelines.
- Business Intelligence: Proven leadership and proficiency in business intelligence, business process analysis, and technical writing / knowledge management.
