Just keep the key in your wallet or on your keychain. I mean if you loose those also every week then you might have some underlying concentration problem to fix (i mean it in a good way).
Your usage doesnt need to be different then from making a payment, get it out, pay, put it back. Get it out, authenticate, put it back. Or open the door, put the keys back; authenticate, keys back.
I donât have it so I canât say for sure but it looks to be enough for water. Salt water though, I think not, since I canât see it maintain a perfect seal with the plastic part of the key thus expose part of the outside of the port.
Yeah, I have diagnosed ADHD which got worse with the responsibility of kids. So itâs been a part of my threat model that I may fumble with these but after the second one Iâm a bit pissed and thinking should I try something different that does better than TOTP but doesnât require me to have one more little item?
I mean, by attaching it to my phone, at least it is still the single device. Which contrary to @anon99163603âs comment here, it wouldnât be a key that can replicate unless someone has phsyical access to my phone. For example, if they get access to my vault or they get on my computer, but donât have my phone, those use cases are covered.
With this being attached to my phone, I can have someone call it, or I can look up GPS if I set up some sort of app even.
Yeah it lowers my security if someone gets ahold of my phone, but they would also need to know my master password as well. I guess if Iâm trying to have a super high security model, this wouldnât cut it, but it would be a step higher than not having a hardware key at all correct?
Edit: Also my wallet is attached to my phone just with my id/credit card. Itâs bigger and as I mentioned someone can always call it if I lose it.
Could you just leave the Yubikey in your phone or laptop? WIth the YubiKey Nano it can just stay snuggly plugged in. You can just use a wireless charger with your phone and leave it plugged in.
