KeePassXC: Do I have to migrate very old key files to the new format? It seems to be an XML document now.

Second question: My KeePassX database is over 10 years old. Does it also need to be migrated to a new format? Please explain. Thank you.

I am not knowledgeable enough to answer your question in technical details, but I remember the latest database version provides better protection against bruteforce attacks.

As long as the tools that you use support latest format, I think you should upgrade your database.

Maybe the DB already automatically upgraded with SW upgrade. I already use “KDBX 4.0 (recommended)”
