Hi all,
I am having trouble installing IVPN on my Mac. I was running Mullvad and I deleted it properly (per Mullvad’s instructions) and rebooted my system several times now. But the IVPN daemon isn’t starting for the app to open and for me to do anything.
The error message I get when I open the app is “Error connecting to IVPN daemon” - and there is nothing in my Login Items list related to IVPN for me to turn on or enable.
Please help if you can. Thanks!
I uninstalled the IVPN app per IVPNs’ instructions from the installer, rebooted my system, and installed the app again. And it worked.
I don’t know why this didn’t work before.
Good to know! I’ve been an iVPN user for many years now, ever since they offered Wireguard (2020?). IIRC, they got a nice write up in Ars Technica which sold me back then.
Yeah.. I’ve been using Proton and Mullvad for a while and I wanted to give IVPN a try again for a few months atleast to see how it is.
I still wish they had more servers and locations all over. I am literally only interested in connecting to 7 locations/cities in the Western world out of all they offer. More options would help everyone.
But as for the issue I faced - the lesson is always delete the app per the devs instructions and then download and install the new VPN to install. I didn’t follow this advice in full at first, ergo the issue. Atleast I solved it myself troubleshooting it.

I meant it more as an example. But definitely less than 10 locations for me and my preference if I want low latency and higher speeds. And I do want country specific results and website preferences for the most part.
So I mostly connect to North American locations and not in states or locations where internet is not fully open/accessible.
