Israel bans Android phones for senior officers, mandating iPhones for security.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) has issued a directive restricting senior officers from using Android phones because of security concerns, the Jerusalem Post reports.

More surprised that this was not the case already.

Considering Israel makes all the nasty spyware they can that targets almost all smartphones, I’d imagine they’d be better off using Graphene OS.

Or do they not want their own people not as secure as GOS? The irony here writes itself.

It’s probably because grapheneOS requires extra steps to install and isn’t going to work perfectly with apps that use the play integrity api. iPhones are going to work without any additional setup, they’re easier to deploy in mass, and even grapeheneOS says that they’re secure.

I am sure that the IDF also restricts most apps, so this wouldn’t be an issue.

However if they have decided that iPhones work for them, there is nothing much to argue about.

Well no. There is no MDM that works with grapheneOS and i assume they need that.

I am actually aware of a company that is currently building this but it is not public yet.
