Is using ProtonVPN as an exit node for Tailscale something that will compromise privacy?

I know that messing with custom DNS on ProtonVPN can make you more identifiable and you no longer blend in with the big crowd of users. But I was curious, is there any downside to that when using it as an exit node? I finally figured out a setup I like that allows me to use both Tailscale for access to Immich and Taildrop in addition to having ProtonVPN running: an exit node on my Synology through OpenVPN. I’ve tested it, and it appears to work. I can access Immich, send files through Taildrop, and when I use whatsmyip, I am successfully hiding my location, 300 miles away, which hopefully means the VPN is encrypting stuff properly.

What I want to know is, does that compromise the effectiveness of the VPN at all? How different is it from just using the ProtonVPN app and switching it off every time I want to access my photo library?
