Today I realized if someone enables the auto disappearing messages feature in WhatsApp, it also disables Meta AI for all members in a group chat. i believe this could potentially eliminate the risk of your encrypted messages and media being exposed to ai by others in any group via the @metaai command.
I would like to know if this trick works for others too.
That’s interesting. However, I’d still be cautious about assuming this fully prevents AI access. Even if the @metaai command is disabled at the UI level, we don’t really know how much server-side processing still happens before messages are deleted. End-to-end encryption should protect message content, but metadata and feature interactions can still be a gray area.
It at least prevents my pictures from being turned into ai slop images by other people for now. I haven’t tested it myself but I think meta ai also has message forwarding feature which let’s other people to forward your messaged to ai.
