I want to create a Google account anonymously. The purpose is to write reviews on Google Maps and Play Store without fear of SLAPP suits.
I thought of several ways to do this.
- Sign up from the Settings app on your Android device. This method does not ask for phone number verification, but the IMEI of the device is sent to the Google server.
- Sign up from a public Wi-Fi hotspot. This method often does not ask for phone number verification. However, hotspots usually keep access logs for a period of time and you need to watch out for surveillance cameras.
- Sign up using a commercial anonymous VPN (e.g. Mullvad). I tried it, but it required phone number verification.
Google seems to vary whether or not they require phone number verification depending on the web browser. For example, Android’s Chrome may not require phone number verification, but changing browsers may require phone number verification even if the internet connection is the same; Android’s Cromite and Linux’s Chrome require phone number verification.
My ideal is to sign up through an anonymous VPN. Is it possible to sign up from an anonymous VPN without being asked for phone number verification?
Note that I am not considering paying an SMS verifier.
