Is Google's Messages app still the only RCS client on android?

RCS on android has been around for 7 years now, yet an open source messaging app is still missing.

Or maybe I’m just blind?

Samsung messages seemed to have RCS but Samsung announced its sunsetting a bit ago. Is Google really the only game?

Does anyone know of an open source messaging app that uses RCS, or is at least attempting to implement it. Or is it just not possible at the moment?

Google Messages is the only option at the moment for RCS on Android.
