how much of an issue is plausible deniability with veracrypt on an ssd

people are always saying, including veracrypt in their own documentation, that wear levelling etc. may cause issues with the plausible deniability of a hidden volume. however, this seems to exist only in the literature and in theory. is this really something to worry about? can anyone point me towards a time when this has actually caused someone an issue.

It depends on your threat model.

It’s easier to worry about how to get around the issue categorically than “it depends” threat actors.

Use external HDD instead of SSD for files(ystems) requiring PD to get rid of the complexity that is wear leveling.

Good point, as long as the OP has the option available to them in their workflow.
