- bought anonymous prepaid SIM from a local store
- slotted into a phone while being on a public wifi to create a new google account
But as I said, I couldn’t get past the whole SMS by typing in a phone number, required me to go through the SMS app.
Turns out I don’t care that much because it was still a prepaid SIM but yeah could have maybe came with a laptop now that I think about it. Just thought that it wouldn’t matter on how I create the account and that a phone is more lightweight but you’re probably right, it’s probably better to create an account from a desktop.
Yes. Issue is not the fact that I needed to change it (had nothing else tbh) but more of the fact that Google didn’t let me type a phone number into a text input in the first place but forced to go through that app so that the SMS app could beacon a cell tower and receive the SMS itself directly (hence not prompting me for the phone number at any time during the whole process).
I do have such a thing too but it’s too limited to even connect to a wifi or open a browser haha.
Oh yeah, exactly what I did too dw.
I never considered putting a SIM into my GOS Pixel and probably never will, maybe Mudi v2 combo at best if I really start to hate relying on public wifi (getting close to that as of recently…).
