I have an Amazfit but I donât want to root my phone at the moment, so unfortunately I couldnât use it with GadgetBridge.
I checked the site recently and it seemed not possible to get a token for an Amazfit smartwatch on non-rooted phones. Hereâs what it says on the site:
Currently not working
Huami has changed the API, and the huafetcher and huami-token projects are not working. See more information in huami-token#118.
So if anyone isnât willing to root their phones, you should be aware that Amazfit is currently not a good option.
Why do they need rooted phones and why is this not stated on the Gadgetbrdige website?

I pre-ordered a Pebble Watch .
I do love the fact that it can last an entire month, have the bare minimum, relaxing E-ink screen and is embraced by an apparently lovely community passionate about FOSS.
Also fully compatible with Gadgetbridge from day one .
The CEO also looks kind and apparently cares about real things (no AI salesman or whatever).
It might flop. Will not be as refined as an Apple Watch Ultra but hey, I do value some points over others more. Would be a perfect match for GOS and some basic healthy metrics IMO.
PS: you can hack the hell out of it and have something playful and fun.
Gosh that one is a thing most company are loosing nowadays.
When will they get released?
I need to see then how good the tracking is

You can pre-order a Time 2 now and receive it early 2026 depending on your batch.
Website still says
Batch 3 - ships February
But yes, might be a little late too since it is still a WIP release.
But good thing is, almost all the pre-orders for the Pebble 2 Duo got delivered!
And the guy knows his stuff + trackers are anyway biased and imprecise by the nature of the hardware (itâs a wearable on your wrist and not a professional lab device on your chest/deeper), so the tracking should be good enough as a whole IMO.

It is stated on their website I linked to you
Iâm not sure you have read it at this point, this is exactly why I said I donât think it would be an option to you if it needs to be convenient enough

Is this only for newer versions?
Couldnât someone just use them with a firmware prior to this change?

I use Garmin instinct 3 with Gadgetbridge nightly build, without issue. Iâve never had any sync issues and it always reconnects to my pixel 7a with GrapheneOS.
I will say that I never installed or connected it to the official Garmin app, I connected and used it entirely through Gadgetbridge.
So the sleep data is synced accurately to Gadgetbridge?
Completely, everything works as expected.
Here is a screen shot of my sleep data entry for one day on gadget bridge

This mightâve aged poorly⌠lol
I have a PT2 on pre-order though. I wish I knew the P2D was a limited batch and maybe Iâd have ordered both, but whatever.

What do you mean? They do have some product around the thing but a good chunk can still be fully FOSS from what I saw.
