Hi all. One of the most missing features in Firefox is a UI profile switcher. I found this addon and saw some news in websites, but still I am so undecided. It will add one more extension and require additional software. I checked questions asked before on Reddit and did not see any negative comment?
Hey there. In GNOME there is a prompt to open the profile manager when clicking on the app menu/right clicking the app icon. Is this not the case for the operating system you are running?
Unfortunately, I am on Mac and cannot see profile manager when I click right click. There is an option to ask for profiles at startup. Currently, I pin about:profiles in bookmark bar which is not very convenient.
Also, I cannot find a way to pin different profiles like in Windows by using shortcut -P.
It seems that the latest update on firefox brings this feature to stable version. You have to enable it via about:config. Tab groups, vertical tabs, and sidebar can be enabled as well.
Keep in mind that especially profiles are not stable yet. I think it is coming in the next one or two version.
browser.profiles.enabled
browser.tabs.groups.enabled
sidebar.verticalTabs
sidebar.revamp
It was already available in Nightly versions.
This is great to see. Though i have to note something i found in my testing. once “browser profiles” are enabled Firefox does not detect pre-existing Firefox profiles created via the “about:profiles” page for display in the new “browser profiles” ui.
