Facebook messenger e2ee option not avaliable?

Hi, I use Fb messenger with a throwaway email and have had all (a few) chats with e2ee, now when I wanted to start one with another person, I can’t seem to find it. Can someone confirm the same, or am I just stupid?

It should exist a toggle after clicking the pen in the top right corner. But there is none there.

(save me the “use signal”-comments, I use Signal 95% of the time)

It’s the default.

Why is there a difference, it says end to end on the old chat, where I had to choose it manually (started the chat (end of August).
The new one has no indication (started today)

At least on Instagram, while they said it was the new default, this is totally false and you have to manually enable it per chat.

That is the thing. I can’t enable it anymore. I have tried for an hour and read all guides I could find. Just seems it is not enabled by default, because why would there in that case be a difference between my two images?

Scroll down and you will find the “Verify end-to-end encryption” option in both chats.

I was able to do it in the web app, but still not at all in the android app.

Again, for Instagram, I can’t enable E2EE for most people.
