I downloaded a special, very niche font for personal use. It shows up in my LibreOffice font selection, but I want to make sure it isn’t in my browsers, since that would make me much easier to fingerprint.
Yes, unless you are already running a hardened browser configuration to begin with.
Depends on browser and operating system. Here’s an article about it from brave: Protecting against browser-language fingerprinting | Brave
Here’s what Firefox resist fingerprinting does: Client Challenge
Client Challenge (Check the section named “What does resist fingerprinting alter?”
Safari also protects against font fingerprinting:
Tracking Prevention in WebKit | WebKit .
Seems like something a lot of browser vendors already took care of for us.
So it should be fine if I’m using Mullvad or Brave browser with protectons on?
No, I would not assume that. The best solution would be to separate your personal use from your browser use by hardware isolation, so they never have any easy opportunities to contaminate each other’s workflows to begin with.
You’re not okay anyway if you use Brave. Brave easier to identify via other fingerprints. With Mullvad, yes, considering its improved protections regarding fonts.
Brave doesn’t protect against font fingerprinting last time i checked, same for safari, at least in non private window mode. Tor,Mullvad, LibreWolf arkenfox do protect against it.
