If use a VPN at all times (reputable one), should I care at all about my DNS resolver on my router settings?

My understanding is that no, but I just would like to confirm.

I think you shoud always care about DNS server setting, ISP DNS servers are simply not reliable enough, and it is so simple to switch to better ones. On top of that, I can think of 2 more reasons to do so:

  1. It will be beneficial to your visitors;
  2. Some IoT devices, and smart TVs are not capable to enable VPN, better DNS resolver could help with fighting telementries / ads.

Although implement network wide VPN might be a even better option.
