A cyberattack forced Crisis24 to decommission parts of CodeRED, an emergency notification system used widely across the US by governments, police, and fire agencies.
Does it really make sense to create a new topic about every data breach? They happen in thousands every day and knowing about them does not help the vast majority of users here.
I have the impression, that it just makes new forum threads more difficult to follow. Is there a way to completely hide all data breach threads as a user?
I’m on both sides here. While I do want everyone to know of the data breaches, there are so many everyday that it’s difficult if not impossible to keep track or even do anything about it other than to just become aware of it to ensure your OPSEC is as good as it can be - so I don’t know how better PG can inform and yet not inundate everyone with the “same” news everyday.
I personally would rather subscribe to RSS of this new news feed they now have instead of having it appear here. But I know that’s not how everyone operates and if not shown/shared here, breach notifications will go unnoticed.
Perhaps they can have a separate section here to the right of Categories just for such news or all news? I don’t know. The PG team will have to think about it.
Appreciate the feedback, everyone We’ll be releasing data breaches as a weekly round-up instead of one-by-one going forward so we don’t flood your feeds.
