Clipboard manager recommendations for Fedora

Hello,

I am looking for a clipboard manager for Fedora, with the main goal of being able to have several things saved in the clipboard at the same time, being able to paste them interchangeably without having to copy each one before using it.

Given that this is quite intrusive in terms of information, I wanted to ask if you have any recommendations that are appropriate in terms of privacy and security. To be precise, my threat model ignores the physical aspect, i.e., someone physically accesing my computer, and focuses on: 1. An app that is not reliable and could inject malicious code now or in the future. 2. An app that is secure but collects clipboard data without respecting privacy.

Searching the internet, I have seen that Copyq is recommended, and it can even be downloaded from the Fedora repository in the Software Store, but I dont know if this nexessarily means that it meets these security and privacy criteria, as I dont know what kind of filters they have in that repository.

Thanks in advance.

If an app collects clipboard data, it can’t be secure. Use Flatpack Settings to prevent apps from using X11, remove apps that don’t support Wayland (Bitwarden).

If you’re on GNOME, the clipboard indicator extension is good. I imagine it’s about as secure as the laptop itself and you can exclude specific apps like your password manager which is nice. It’s open source and very popular so I would be surprised if it phones home at all, but I haven’t actually tested it myself. If you’re on KDE I think there’s a clipboard manager built in.

Yep! this is what I use too. However, I do wish certain key OS utility functionality like this comes built into Fedora as one of the functionality because this is no longer a feature in 2026.
