It actually hurts more than you think. This is the reason why project projects like Tornado cash and Samourai Wallet devs got arrested for doing open source projects that was misued by criminals.
Same is currently happening with Monero, fluffy pony got arrested and then got released later on but resigned from Monero Project. Chainalaysis companies and literally FEDs are trying to discredit Monero by accusing it for funding CSAM and terror attacks.
I honestly don’t think anyone is discrediting you, you still have the badge. Double title would make sense in your case, because I also think it is important that your affiliation with grapheneos is clear to everyone, probably more important even, not sure if double titles like that are possible but i am sure it can be figured out.
Changing it right after I replied on this thread is interesting timing. I never asked for “Former team member” to be attributed to me, but for it to be replaced right now feels very conveniently timed, and I would like for past affiliation with this project to be clear to people who are seeing me respond here and elsewhere.
Understand you feel that way, but honestly think it was just to flag your affiliation so that people know. I am sure we can fix it so that you get both titles in some way.
it’s a custom title set for people with developer / verified status badges. I don’t think there was a thought behind it but surely understand that you perceived it as something been taken away, not intentionally tho. I’ll ask @jonah to get you both, dw
There’s speculation that there are NSA agitators trying to shift discourse online, that’s far more relevant than thinkpieces or marketing from different publications – heck, I myself got called an NSA plant for advocating for proper threat modelling and risk analysis over in the PG matrix rooms
Good catch, but probably just done quickly to show the relationship, Jonah is currently on a trip as was said in his podcast. Don’t think you should seek to much behind it is all I am saying.
I think that @ph00lt0 is mentioning the Privacy and Security Q&A livestreams, usually hosted by Henry Fisher and Jonah Aragon, published in both Youtube and Peertube in the Techlore channel.
Doubling down by attributing a specific person to a project post, doubling down on the claim that what GrapheneOS was doing was “marketing to criminals” and not taking back the statement that was dismantled by other forum members minutes after it was posted isn’t a good look.
If you’re going to try to claim that you weren’t saying that GrapheneOS is trying to market to criminals, then what is that post even about in the context of the OP?
If you’re going to claim that this is what GrapheneOS is doing, you’re going to need clearly show where that has taken place. No, Cellebrite does not only sell to law enforcement. No, even if that was the case, that doesn’t mean the person being prosecuted is guilty. Yes, exploits existing at all can lead to people who are completely innocent being harmed and projects focused on privacy and security should be trying to constantly improve and take care of them. Yes, everyone deserves privacy and security, but you have a very weird way of showing it when making the claims that you are.
Nobody here is trying to start anything. Lets just drop this and move on, you don’t see us lashing out about previous claims and attacks Graphene OS has made about our project, it is not in anyone’s interest, and we both want the same thing in the end: help people.
In any case, this topic has been discussed for long enough now, I don’t see anything productive sprouting from it anymore, so ill be closing it.
