How could they bypass encryption if the phone was in BFU state? Surely it was bruteforced and he had a weak pin/pattern or weak password as main unlock method (the one that prompts upon switching on device)
My understanding is that the exploit was a bypass of the lockscreen allowing direct attack against the encrypted files without any rate limiting measures.
Alternatively if it was AFU, a lockscreen bypass would give full access -/ if the phone was unlocked.
It was BFU and I’m sure about that, I’ve read it in the articles.
Thing is if you bypass lockscreen could you just turn on device and search stuff or install spyware or extract data? Since the lockscreen is bypassed, like it’s not there anymore at the boot? You just enter inside the phone? But I’m no expert so i ask you.
