Camera on Stock Android

Hello!

I have been considering the risks of using the stock camera on different Android OS. I have been trying Secure Camera from GrapheneOS, and Open Camera, however they don’t feel as smooth as the stock camera on my Samsung device.

I use Rethink DNS firewall to stop the camera app from connecting to the internet, and use ExifEraser before uploading or sending photos. Is using the stock camera like this really that big of risk to my privacy? What are the potential risks?

Stock camera probably keeps more metadata. That is really the only risk. So you should be aware that your pictures will contain your device info and leak your location.

It’s impossible to define your your risk here by not knowing your situation. But obviously there is higher chances of you making a mistake if the defaults are not as sane
