Brave Search Premium: Does this provide any additional user protection?

Good morning,

I’m finding myself using Brave Search and Brave AI more and more. I really need a private AI that I can count on.

Is there any security advantage in paying for Brave Search Premium?

I was looking at Brave Origin and it’s only $60 for a lifetime membership but I don’t think Brave Origin enhances the Brave Search AI Premium at all?

Don’t think so. Probably more risk because of payment details. Last time I checked they didn’t have any anonymous payment methods.

That’s a real shame. I’ve been looking at Brave Origin and if this brings any improvements to the Brave AI Search but I don’t think it does?

Brave uses Privacy Pass to separate your payment from your actual usage of the service, so they shouldn’t be able to link your payment info to your activity.

Brave Search Premium basically just takes away the ads, that’s really it.

Leo Premium just gives you faster responses and “more models to handle more requests each day, and lets you try new features first.”

You don’t need to pay to use them it’s mainly to support Brave and get a slightly better experience.

That’s a real shame because Brave AI Search is something I really find useful and it’s one of the few services that’s worth subscribing to…

Would you say Brave AI Search is the best Private AI Search available or is there anything else I should try?

Honestly, it’s not the most private. That would be a service like Confer or Tinfoil Chat which use a Trusted Execution Environment on the server to answer your prompts without the provider being able to actually see your prompt or the response.

“Ask Brave” only promises that once you get the answer from the AI, it is encrypted with a key saved in your browser (so they can’t read it) and auto-deleted after 24 hours of inactivity. At least that’s my understanding of it, I could be wrong. I think Proton Lumo is similar.

This is still better than ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, Gemini etc. who can read your chats and even if you delete chats they’re not actually deleted from their server for another 30 days or so.

But I think Ask Brave actually gives really good answers, it’s always up to date (in fact better than Perplexity in many cases) and it’s pretty much unlimited and all free. So it’s definitely a great option and a good balance of privacy and quality. Personally, I really like it.
