Well, that would explain why their results aren’t showing up in my SearXNG instance.

For me the brave search have been given looping captchas since at least half a year. End up given up with it. I understand the need to block bots in this day and age but when its too sensitive can’t differentiate actual users with bots then its harming its own growth. However imperfect ddg is i only got captcha-ed maybe once a month so i just stick with ddg.

I have to say, with Mullvad Browser + Proton VPN, the captcha is even more frequent than Google.

I came to the conclusion that also with Brave, this is, awarely and/or unawarely, part of the generalised “making you progressively comply ever more with a certain type of standard user” strategy. You all have certainly noticed that in many cases there are more checks if you use a Gecko-based instead than any Chromium-based browser with ever more websites. And even for Chromium-based browsers now, one experiences more checks and “unexpected problems”, if they use more “restrictive” settings. Let alone when one uses these measure together with a VPN (here some times happens that you are always incorrect: basically giving you the impression of fairness, while punishing you “invisibly” for over-protecting your data).

From the online/digital business perspective that basically equals being a terrorist—the paradox one has to track you as to protect itself from you and potentially even you from yourself, being one of its main recognisable flags. Brave tried too long to have a foot in both camps. It never worked and will never work. In the long term one has to make decision. In fact, Brave decided to be more business than community oriented. I mean you see even in the ads in the new tab page…

They do try to make you more comfortable in complying with being a “standard user” with them, than with any other, since they do all what they can to give the impression of being some abstract stalwart protector of any user’s privacy and security.. so long it works.
