Best FOSS, Ad-Free Music Apps for Phones (iOS and Android)

Hmm… Just to be clear, when we are saying that it connects directly to YT we are just saying that it doesn’t use a proxy, right? And if we use a VPN it will not leak unwanted personal information.

Is Libretube the only frontend that uses Piped? I tested it yesterday and things are back to normality on it. I was about to delete the app.

I’m not aware of any other apps that use Piped.

Same. However, after you get it setup there isn’t much to mess around. Also, in the same note that @Lukas was making about Clipious, RiMusic is the only YT Music Frontend available in the Accrescent.

Opened an issue about this for InnerTune.

I think this has more to do with the Invidious technology than with the proxy setting. I noticed it to be a bit slower/clunkier to start compared to Grayjay for example. I have to click twice to have the video to start also.

Here’s a list of them: Made with Piped

Within the list, Yattee (iOS) is the only other one recommended on the site.

Yattee can also use Invidious, but I have heard a lot of complaints about Yattee, like buffering or videos not playing.

Is Yattee working for you guys? It has a few weeks that I just see the error “Failed loading video Cannot Open”

Exactly. It is not working for me.

UX was not the best either last time I used it.

So still seems slow. Disabling dearrow makes it slightly faster. I think its invidious and piped itself as the other person said. I will stick to freetube and freetube android for now.

Be nice if it supported Android auto

Yatte is not working for me as well. I tried Yattee invidious and piped instances.
