Thanks for your support! If you used the same email here there is nothing you need to do. I have noticed some sync issues I will take a look at today, but everything will be working by the time you need it. You should see it very soon ![]()
Thanks for the reply. I’m acquiring those information now. In a longer-term discussion though, I would like to see the three accounts tied together to prevent users from being overwhelmed by having to navigate through multiple hops and what I said previously, with just maybe a completion of what is needed further in order to accomplish, as we were discussing, the recurring payment or the donation. Don’t really know if that feasible or not or if it’s rather complicated at a site level. Plus… in an ideal world, also the possibility of paying in cash but as I said… precisely and just in that ideal world, thusly keep up the good work in the meantime. I will be here to reap the benefits!
How long will this discount last? I want to sign up and will select the annual option but I need another month before I can.
Please let me know if you have a time frame - whatever it may be.
I have no time frame but we’ll post a heads up here at least a few days in advance.
As a supporter I think the more pressing matter is stickers in the store I can buy over a newsletter ![]()
I’m bummed because my previous sticker vendor I liked did turn out to be mega-right-wing-political on Twitter, but I do want to have this solved very soon because I too want stickers ![]()
I am happy to lend my support to PG’s important mission. I would love to see more interviews with people involved in this space whether on the tech side or advocacy/political side.
You are a reference as a privacy source, you help so many people to at least find proper privacy friendly alternatives to their apps. You do so much education. And this forum is so full of information thanks to every participants, from pro and deep privacy minded people to more beginners like me. Much appreciated.
I definitively want to support you on this! Thank you.
Are there private ways to pay?
If you register at https://donate.magicgrants.org/privacyguides/membership you can pay with:
- Monero
- Bitcoin
- Litecoin
- Ethereum (and most/all Ethereum tokens?) (via Coinbase Commerce)
These last 3 aren’t private of course but they’re still cryptocurrency.
I followed the first link just to see and it seems my forum account isn’t linked to the payment/subscription part. Is that true? So, I would need to create a separate account to subscribe to become a member?
That’s correct, no matter which way you sign up you need to create an account with the membership platform and then link your forum account to get the benefits. We do not take payments through this forum. Just for reference, the checkout page after signing in looks like this:
Thanks! I’m happy to support the cause.
Glad to be a part of it! Easiest sell ever.
Joined and paid. I accidentally closed the page right after payment. Should I have registered somewhere or is everything okay?
edit. Oh, I checked the email so no problem..
Thank you all so much for supporting us
!
Marketing idea: you can pitch the membership as a Christmas gift that people can ask for. I never know what people can get me for Christmas so I end up coming with a mediocre list since people still want to get me something. What if I could ask for a membership to this instead?
One, that is a pitch you guys can make around Christmas time anyway, but two, you could also offer a discount to make it more affordable for people paying for the membership. For example, I would feel more comfortable offering a $50-60 yearly membership rather than a $100 to someone like my mom for example.
The only thing with gift memberships is that you would need to be set up for that. You don’t want a recurring payment to show up for the gift-giver that was intended as a one-time thing.
Anywho, just another idea to drive memberships.
I used the same email as the forum, and get “Secure sign in link for Privacy Guides” sent to my inbox, which appears to work.
Wondering if there are still sync issues? Or if there is any other “linkage” I need to do?
Your forum account is already linked, so you should be able to access Members for example. Whether or not it shows “Member” next to your name or the red members badge depends on if you enable the Title and/or Flair at https://discuss.privacyguides.net/my/preferences/account.
We’ll have a dedicated page soon with this info, but at the moment there are no sync issues.
I don’t think it works for me. At least I don’t see any title or change in the settings. ![]()
