Apple Patches App Privacy Issue, Many More Left Unaddressed for Now

Apple fixed an app fingerprinting issue in iOS 27 Developer Beta 3, an early preview of the next major version of iOS, making it a bit harder for apps to fingerprint you.

There are too many factors, it’s almost impossible to avoid. I guess Apple will never make anti-fingerprinting for app due to usability and compatibility.

I hope someone makes a Loupe-type app for Android. I’m curious if iOS or Android exposes more egregious things.

If you download the Loupe app there’s a lot of stuff that doesn’t make a lot of sense that could easily be removed/changed and there’s some things like leaking the audio device name that aren’t really fingerprinting they’re more like a possible personal data leak. They could restrict things for apps targeting newer versions of iOS so that older apps don’t break, like how they are restricting the amount of queries to canOpenURL for apps targeting iOS 27.
