I haven’t a G Pixel phone, so I can’t install GrapheneOS. But, searching a balance between privacy and security, I’d like to know wich Android system processes can safely be removed (or at least disabled) from the device ? Thanks,
How can you not install GrapheneOS exactly?
GrapheneOS only supports Google Pixel, isn’t it ?
well yes but you literally say you have a Google Pixel.
Is it Carrier locked?
He said he doesn’t have a Pixel.
Removing android system processes is a bad idea, you will almost certainly break something. It’s better to simply switch to more privacy friendly apps rather than the default bloatware and enable all the privacy settings.
Every brand varies due to their own customisation.
I would simply go to install apps section, check the “show system” box, and check each and every process, most crucial process wont allow you to disable, just remember not to disable your keyboard.
I’m sorry for misinterpreting
I understand his English wasn’t perfect but I guess it was my false interpretation.
Also depending on which device IT IS SAFE to remove systems apps BUT NOT ALL SYSTEM APPS
Depending on your phone brand, search for it and usually you will find a list of safe apps to uninstall (or uninstall obviously not needed ones like for example if you spot tencent service system app, Should be safe to uninstall) Have done this with my xiaomi Before and it’s safe.
Even concerning the processes below :
Google One Time Init
One Time Init
Google Partner Setup
Market Feedback Agent
??
@PaulF
right what’s your phone your using atm?
Nokia 2.4 (Andro 12)
so this is a stock android device then, Then actually the question becomes what do you want to remove exactly? Because mostly what lives in the phone is google components and stuff like that.
Edit: here’s a community compiled list:
https://xdaforums.com/t/nokia-2-list-apps-safe-to-delete.3783158/
However treat those with caution, Make sure there aren’t any critical system apps here but usually the lists consist of safe apps to do so.
Yes because they provide for certain functionality in the OS. Whether it leads to breakage you can live with I have no idea. It’s simplest to recommend against removing these processes since at worst you break something and at best you remove the invasive parts that can be removed but what about the invasive processes which can’t be safely removed? You gain very little.
I’ve ever disabled the 4 system processes mentionned above
Once the Google Partner Setup is disabled, the system updates are blocked but my device is no longer maintened…
then enable it back if it breaks system updates.
See the list the community has been compiled, audit it to make sure they don’t break any critical functions, you can start by disabling it, testing it then deleting it completely and if it breaks enable it.
Make sure you don’t do this to any critical system apps btw. (And like if you think it’s critical just don’t do it, simple as that)
Alternatively and a Safer approach. I would just sell it for say a Used Pixel 6a or something and use that instead if possible.
