I wish we‘d just get feedback from someone of the @team on this…
Maybe change it to Morphe as revanced has been in trouble for some time where the lead developer had quarrel with other contributors. The major contributors created their own tool called Morphe.
It seems that you didn‘t read the whole thread ![]()
My original (dumb) post was: ReVanced and / or Morphe , however it got of course closed (for a good reason): suggesting one tool „and/or“ another is of course dumb; each one of them needs to be reviewed individually.
Feel free to open a „Tool Suggestion“ topic with Morphe. I went her with ReVanced as it is much more known.
Also, this:
is a very big and complicated topic; if what happened there is the fault of the developer from ReVanced or from Morphe and cannot be put off with that simple sentence. (For more info on that, read the whole thread.)
It’s not even open-source so it’s unlikely to be approved. Probably also tracks users (locally without account) like on the YouTube Web App. Not a big deal, but not privacy-friendly except no account needed.
Er..
It tracks users locally? Not sure what you mean by this.
So patches on a closed-source software doesn’t make it open-source.
Since you use the official YouTube API, YouTube likely keeps your watching history tied to an ID or a cookie.
Sure. If you say „It“ in a thread with the title „Add ReVanced“, of course one would think that you mean ReVanced and not YouTube.
Anyways, at the end your setup isn‘t completely open-source, yes. This is a downside, sure. However, thinking of the big, big advantages, it may be still fair to recommend / is IMO fair to recommend / should be IMO recommended.
Yes, as I said:
It can’t be recommended if it doesn’t meet the criterias. And I could also just use YouTube.com with an adblocker and have the same results. Doesn’t meet its private. The entire point of the section is to allow people to use proprietary services with maximum privacy.
