The popular privacy frontend [Nitter](https://nitter.net) has received a cease and desist letter from X Corp demanding a permanent takedown of the project's repository and all instances.

Hi, just dropping by to mention that some public Nitter instances still exist, one being my own.

Some of us are fighting back and refuse to let this great project die.

Nitter is what we call a frontend of X. It’s essentially someone creating a X account (or accessing to X tweets in other ways) and then spawning a server you can connect to to request tweets. All of this logic is handled by the Nitter “program”, who anyone can run for private use or give access to other people.
