I don’t think its a lost cause. I’ve been promoting signal for years now, and almost exclusively use it for communication.

Same. Far from a lost cause, and becoming more possible lately in my experience.

A lot more people use Signal than you think and even if you’re getting people on it just to talk to you, the effect of people having it on their phone allows it to become the new default.

There are lots of ways to convince people of the merits of signal other than privacy. Non profit, doesn’t donate to inaugurations, it’s your birthday, etc.
