# Wire vs Element/Matrix

It’s best to stick to the [recommended platforms](https://www.privacyguides.org/en/real-time-communication/). Wire is not recommended for [various reasons](https://discuss.privacyguides.net/t/wire-instant-messenger/14624). Element is at least recommended as an [additional option](https://www.privacyguides.org/en/real-time-communication/#additional-options), but I don’t see why you shouldn’t use a more secure [preferred messenger](https://www.privacyguides.org/en/real-time-communication/#encrypted-messengers) like Signal since it meets all the criteria you list.
