Seems hard to replace MS Office 
Looks like Germany is still moving forward with the plan to remove dependence on American made software

Hopefully all these countries ditching Microsoft will fund the concurring programs like Libre Office because it’s so far behind Microsoft. They haven’t caught up to macros yet, and they haven’t even started to integrate Power Query / Power Pivot like Eebtzer said.

That’s not Germany’s standpoint. This article talks about a state which only accounts for 3-4% of the German population. Way too small to be successful with such a big task.
My mistake, I read it as THE German state (as in the whole country). I have been exhausted mentally recently but after reading it again I understand. One can only hope that others can break away from the iron grip of MS.
