What is Tor really for?

i like privacy and psudemonymity. i hate fingerprinting with every fiber in my soul. i like having my sessions and accounts not be able to be linked to the same person. yes im mental look at my cool tin foil hat

i log into sites and i download things (piracy and whatever but im not downloading Pegasus on purpose) and i enable javascript even though it fingerprints because every site wants it

people say tor isnt for this. what is tor really for and is mullvad browser+vpn a good enough solution?

It’s for browsing anonymously without your local banana dictatorship being able to tell what you’re accessing simply by compromising a single VPN provider / operating one as honeypot. But Roger Dingledine (a co-founder of Tor) is probably the best person to explain it in depth, in a way that’s beginner friendly:

thanks for the link :+1:
