I think the only problem with this is that we would essentially become a target for fake reviews and every other company trying to get SEO by pushing their product. You’ll see a lot of products which have nothing to do with privacy, and there will be misconceptions and blurred lines about people thinking that we’ve tested those things.
If the currently pre-released Kicksecure is recommended, perhaps Aeon can be recommended as well, or both should not be recommended until the final versions are released.
It all comes down to one thing: how this directory is to be governed. If you will create admission form, make it public and entries will go straight to said directory, than yes, you are right, it will attract all kinds of shady marketing etc.
However, if you impose strict (I mean really strict) moderation of entries, than, even if spammer fills out and sends form, its admission will be stopped halfway through.
