# Signal is working on a paid option to create an account without a phone number

They’ve enabled registration in the[latest beta](https://community.signalusers.org/t/beta-feedback-for-the-upcoming-android-8-28-release/76457).

It’s $3, depending on country. They apparently require Google Play to pay for it right now, although they’re planning to add support for other payment methods. You’re also not able to remove a number from a preexisting account right now (and potentially never, since they’re supposedly thinking about the implications of doing so).
