I own a custom domain which I have been using for custom domain aliasing for many years. I originally used it with Gmail and I had no concern whatsoever with privacy/security, it just enabled me to see who sold my email and to block spam, I didn’t even ever figure out how to reply from the alias. I wasn’t at all choosy about which sites I used it with and I believe the whoois would have shown all my details.
However fast forward a couple of decades and I am now in a situation where I’m using a aliasing strategy which limits custom domain aliases to those organisations which already know my identity.
My conundrum is whether my domain is compromised by my past usage and whether therefore I should buy a new one. What I’m unsure if is whether as soon as I give some of my logins a new alias won’t “the internet” be able to cross reference the two domains and hence apply all the existing compromisation to the new domain? Has anyone else gone through this process, is it worth doing?
