For example on Samsung, all screnshots contain unique image id and firmware info (build number).
This should be tested on other Android devices as well.
Do NOT forget to remove metadata before sending screenshot!

i also see the unique image id and software version of device.
But i think this is somewhat the case with all manufacturers.
Although any indentifiers are non desirable , they wouldn’t reveal a lot about you.
Actually most social media platforms have a feature which removes such metadata before uploading it on their platform.
I also noticed , that though geo location setting was off , it did show me my timezone.
Not sure if i can turn those off .
There is a feature in autoblocker , maximum mode to remove exif before sharing screenshots
Come to think of it, Material You theme colors could be used to fingerprint someone as well. (Which is why I took the screenshot with black accent.)
That’s unfortunate. I wonder why this even needed to be inside firmware.
And I lack MAT2 for android.
If anyone still interested, check if your app really strips all EXIF data.
For example Fossify Gallery, after using the “Remove EXIF” function:
Image Toolbox’s EXIF remover seems to do the job.

Yup, I took my screenshots there for this thread (via the EXIF editing tool).
Probably any specialized EXIF removal app does it, too ( I tested ExifEraser).
The point is, people need to be aware that their (app/)gallery may not do the whole job, especially one that is so commonly used as Fossify Gallery, it also only displays the most relevant attributes.
Of course this makes sense for many users, as they probably want to archive their images via location or date taken.
Similarly, Aves Libre shows all attributes, but also falls short to remove the exotic ones.
I just tested Signal (Molly in my case) by sending an image to myself, and it strips all EXIF data.
I know this. I use for example Termux to do so
exiftool -all= -o output.jpg input.jpg
To install just
pkg install exiftool
You can also try to install MAT2, but I never tested it.
does ente photos app have a built-in remove exif feature? On using the app i did not find sny option to do that.
it would be helpful if they added it. i usually sync all my photos with ente.
