You don’t need to rely on closed-source services like Plex to access your media outside your home thankfully. Still a bummer that they are now enforcing their restrictions on remote streaming access this week though.

While there are companies penny pinching harder to more extreme levels against their customers, such things inevitably only leads to enshittification - we’ve all seen this movie before.

I just hope Plex realizes this and has a balanced approach that don’t go to extremes. This remote streaming lockdown also feels inevitable as a means to increase revenue. Sad it’s coming at cost of restrictions than actual innovation.

Recent Plex app updates have made it a steaming garbage pile as well, so at least they are making it easy to leave them behind.

What happened with the recent updates? I’m on Jellyfin, not Plex anymore.
