# Passkeys and interoperability

Looking at moving to passkeys for some of my accounts. If I set up a passkey in 1Password and then at a later time decide to move my password manager to Bitwarden, is that possible?

Does this create a kind of vendor lock-in or no. Would I have to unenroll and re-enroll all of my passkeys as a part of the move? That seems awful compared a simple export/import with password and TOTP.

What does passkey interoperability look like?

There is a draft spec to facilitate this, so hopefully sometime in the near-ish future.

Currently they’re working on the Credential Exchange Format which would let you transfer all your credentials securely between password managers.

But it’s still in the draft stage so it’ll be a while before you can transfer passkeys over.
