Well, I wanted to ask since you were so persistent. Nothing cynical about that. You thinking it is makes you one, not me. It is a valid question so thanks for answering.
If we really value compatibility, then we could also mandate IKEv2. This would then just leave Proton and IVPN. What you propose is lowering other standards to let other VPNs go in, which isn’t what PG does IMO.
Also, for anti-censorship I don’t get it. OpenVPN and Wireguard will probably be blocked anyway, so any improvement is marginal.
I for one insist that support for SSTP, PPTP and L2TP/Ipsec is mandated. Alongside the previously mentioned protocols of course.
