@phnx In the [thread](https://discuss.privacyguides.net/t/mullvad-response-to-donation-controversy) where the debate arose about this donation and the ideals of the Örebropartiet, he tried to dirty the discussion by [suggesting](https://discuss.privacyguides.net/t/mullvad-response-to-donation-controversy/39250/122) that the Örebropartiet presented left-wing policies and with a frankly simplistic explanation of what it means to be left-wing (equating it to economic proposals when it is not).

Even if there are authoritarian left-wing parties and groups, that does not mean that the Örebropartiet is not fascist. Remember that Mussolini and Hitler ran propaganda clearly aimed at workers to win their votes, and that does not mean they were “left-wing” in any sense, nor that the National Socialist Party being called “socialist” in its name makes fascism left-wing. Mixing things so absurdly nonsensical is what dirties the debate and makes it meaningless to talk about political questions (which, precisely, is what fascists are most interested in). Fascists are defined above all because they possess no ideals. They accept anything and only seek power to prevent worker revolutions and the advancement of rights, that is, to defend the _status quo_ and the concentration of power among buddies and large corporations. Obviously, when you do not pretend to change anything, what you get is an authoritarian **capitalist** state, as there have been many examples throughout history. And that is why it is right-wing (authoritarian and ultra-conservative).

It never hurts to recall this excerpt from Mussolini’s book, _Relativism and Fascism_:

> In Italy, relativism is nothing more than a fact. Fascism is a super-relativist movement because it has never attempted to clothe its complex and vigorous mental attitude in a concrete programme, but has triumphed by following the dictates of its ever-changing individual intuition. Everything I have said and done in recent years is relativism by intuition. If relativism means the end of faith in science, the decline of that myth, “science,” conceived as the discovery of absolute truth, I can pride myself on having applied relativism to the analysis of socialism. If relativism means contempt for fixed categories and for those who claim to possess an external objective truth… then nothing is more relativist than fascist attitudes and activity… We Fascists have always displayed an absolute indifference towards all theories… We Fascists have had the courage to set aside all traditional political theories, and we are aristocrats and democrats, revolutionaries and reactionaries, proletarians and anti-proletarians, pacifists and anti-pacifists. It is enough to have one fixed aim: the nation. The rest is self-evident… The modern relativist concludes that everyone is free to create their own ideology and to attempt to put it into practice with all possible energy, and draws this conclusion from the fact that all ideologies have the same value, that all ideologies are mere fictions.

I think it’s healthy that we keep debates and discussions about politics. Complaining that people talk and discuss politics is a good way of rendering the fight for citizens’ privacy meaningless. After all, practically all of us here, I believe, are in favour of laws preserving this fundamental right enshrined in the charter of human rights. And those who make the laws are politicians. There is no defence of privacy without politics being involved. Avoiding it is putting a blindfold over our eyes.
