Security researchers at [Calif](https://x.com/calif_io/status/2117720348322144733?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E2117720348322144733%7Ctwgr%5E297792412e2c30e518da84195c4ec730858be4e4%7Ctwcon%5Es1_c10&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.gadgetreview.com%2Fapples-lockdown-mode-was-supposed-to-protect-iphones-hackers-found-a-way-around-it) posted on X that they were able to exploit an iPhone 18 Pro despite Lockdown Mode, a setting that's designed to make your device more resistant to exploits.

Is this a duplication of this [one](https://discuss.privacyguides.net/t/iphone-jailbreak-gets-past-lockdown-mode-and-survives-an-update/42031) or is a new case?

Same one, and it’s actually surprising how little traction this is getting considering how insane this exploit is:

> latest and greatest iPhone 18 with the latest and greatest hardware security (MTE, CPA2)
> fresh OS (latest patch -1 probably)
> Lockdown mode (meant to harden Apple services)
> gets cracked by a PDF accepted over AirDrop
> survives updates and persists in BFU

I’m surprised; there’s very little information available regarding this vulnerability, which appears to be a first—and a significant one at that, given how heavily Apple promotes this particular protection.

Yeah it’s wild Calif has been on a roll. I’ll be interested to see how they did it once they can release the details.

@fria should we merge the threads?

This is the thread for the article I wrote about it so it’s technically different. Keeping it separate I can get corrections etc here.
