# Little Snitch for Linux

If you use Little Snitch for macOS, the developer has now released it for Linux: [https://obdev.at/blog/little-snitch-for-linux/](https://obdev.at/blog/little-snitch-for-linux/). The download location is [https://obdev.at/products/littlesnitch-linux/download.html](https://obdev.at/products/littlesnitch-linux/download.html). To be up-front, I have not tested this out, as **it is not open source**. The reasoning from the developer being:

> …is free to use but not open source. That part carries more than twenty years of Little Snitch experience, and the algorithms and concepts in it are something we’d like to keep closed for the time being.

I understand the reasoning behind it. I just wanted to post this for those already comfortable with it on macOS who also use Linux.

Not gonna say that opensnitch is simple and easy to use but it also works.

Like the author mentioned it in the link.

Opensnitch is quitte a challenge to use. I hope littlesnitch makes this easier to use. Like OpenSnitch is nice but it lacks commonsense exceptions.

It is not similar to the MacOS version in UX. It is a bit more like RethinkDNS on Android, at least from the user’s perspective. There are no popups when there is a new network connection, basically you see a list of all connections within timeframe and can make rules like the MacOS version.
