iOS 26

To get a security patch that was released to newer devices a month ago. Better late than never though I suppose

Yeah those should definitely not be considered proper support and be relied on, if your device doesn’t support the latest iOS then you need to upgrade.

I’m neutral on the new look. Mostly it’ll take a week to fully get used to it.

My experience is thus far good overall but the lack of polish on some of the tiny details is at times jarring.

Search and Spotlight feel broken by the update. I type in full setting descriptions and app names that used to work and either get nothing or obscure system files. My guess is they they told someone to make it “more” intelligent and it’s become significantly better at jumping to incomprehensible conclusions completely unrelated to the query.

A few system elements are inconsistent in dark mode and display in light interfaces. Mostly in the control panel.

What I will complement it on is that it feels more accesible. Many new interface elements feel larger and easier to reach.

IMO this happens every update, I would reboot after 24 hours and check again before coming to any conclusions. As noted somewhere above I think reindexing is often done by the system.

I didn’t see anyone mention this but Apple finally added an “always ask” option for wired devices. It’s at the bottom of the privacy and security tab above stolen device protection and lockdown mode.

I noted all new and removed settings on my list: https://divested.dev/misc/ios.txt

I wonder how the functions behave with the settings removed? Do iOS now no longer ask to join networks or does it now ask and give you no ability to disable?
