So far the only Taler exchange is for Swiss Franks, but Euros are still in the works. The value of a Taler token is always consistant with the currency its representing. Efficiency, Taler isn’t based on a blockchain and doesn’t require hundreds of nodes to be run by volunteers. IMO, it would be better if individual banks start exchanges as Taler payments can be interoperable. Competition in payment infrastructure is a very good thing. I doubt that commercial banks would actively push for this, because they can make more profit by selling user data that they wouldn’t get with GNU Taler.
