I need to email someone a document without it being traced back to myself. Word has a tool for scrubbing personal information, but I’d like to check if there’s anything else I should be doing.

Thanks!

Depends, what editor did you use?

Use [mat2](https://0xacab.org/jvoisin/mat2), the all-in-one metadata scrubber for multiple file types. It’s fast, accessible to all, and open-source. It’s easy to set up, including a Docker image to create a simple yet effective solution to scrubbing sensitive data from documents and [even audio](https://0xacab.org/jvoisin/mat2#supported-formats) files. We wrote [a guide that details how to do this](https://anonymousplanet.org/guide.html#appendix-l-creating-a-mat2-web-guest-vm-for-removing-metadata-from-files) using Python for a host-only mat2-web tool. The VM isn’t necessary; if you have a major OS, you can easily set up the Docker image as a standalone container without any overhead.
